HELLO! My name is doreet; i was searching for examples of German Expressionism art, after I saw the style used in an old silent movie. This film has some of it;it also has many paintings of Chagall,Matesse, Picasso, and other modern painters. The announcer did a good job of explaining how technology, machines, automation and psychology all affected the art of modern artists.Modern art, then, tries to depict the subjects, such as the unconscious and feelings, and mechanization and how they see it affecting people. So realism takes a back-seat,while new art depicts the inside of man,& his space, from the inside and not just literal realism. The result is an array of beauty, color, depth, and a true expression of the spirit, too,of the subject.Geometric forms invade depictions of the human being, and yet even Picasso shows emotions of loneliness, boredom, and sadness in his paintings.Excellent film on explaining the efforts & techniques of modern art,& how modern life has affected even our art work.Beautiful examples of this art.Nice Film! I recommend it.
